# Enrichment API Guide > Decision guides for teams and agents that buy enrichment data by the call. Published by the team behind Treg (treg.to); pages that evaluate Treg disclose it inline. Every price is quoted from the vendor's own page with the date it was read. Every Treg number is a paid call whose masked response is downloadable under /evidence. ## Decision guides - [API options for teams replacing the data step of a Clay workflow](https://enrichmentapiguide.com/choose/api-alternatives-to-clay): Clay is an orchestration product, not a data API: it runs a waterfall across more than 200 vendors inside a table and charges pass-through data credits, from $167 a month (or $54 a month billed annually), with HTTP API integrations listed on the $446 Growth plan. If what you want is only the enrichment step, called from your own code or agent, there are three replacement shapes: a managed waterfall API that tries several providers per request (BetterContact, FullEnrich, Treg), a single provider with its own finder and verifier (Hunter, Findymail, Icypeas, Prospeo), or a waterfall you write over two or three of those. None replaces Clay's tables, triggers, AI columns or CRM sync. In a 10-contact fixture, Treg's routed finder needed a second provider on 4 of 10 calls and billed $0.054 in total. - [Choose a contact enrichment API for an AI agent or growth team](https://enrichmentapiguide.com/choose/contact-enrichment-api): For an agent that enriches contacts in small, irregular batches, choose on billing shape before data quality: pay only on a hit, no monthly minimum, API included on the entry plan. Of the 17 providers checked on 14 September 2026, four sell that way with no subscription at all (Treg, Enrichlayer, Wiza API credits, Explorium prepaid packs). Subscription APIs from $15 to $99 a month (BetterContact, Icypeas, Hunter, Findymail, Prospeo) work out at $0.02 to $0.08 per found email, but only if you use most of the allowance. Lusha is the one API here that bills a credit even when nothing comes back. Treg is our own product; in a 10-contact fixture it returned 10 work emails for $0.054 in total. - [Enrichment for irregular workloads without a monthly subscription](https://enrichmentapiguide.com/choose/enrichment-without-subscription): Five of the 17 providers we checked on 14 September 2026 sell enrichment without a monthly plan: Treg (pay per successful call from a balance, no minimum), Enrichlayer ($10 top-up, credits do not expire), Wiza API credits ($50 minimum, valid 12 months), Explorium prepaid packs ($29.99, expire after 12 months) and Crustdata (prepaid, price only shown at checkout). For company enrichment from a domain, the cheapest route we actually ran was Treg at $0.0049 per company across 10 domains; Enrichlayer at the smallest top-up is $0.10 per company and Explorium $0.06 to $0.30 depending on fields. A subscription only wins once you reliably use around a fifth of its allowance every month. ## Reference - [Methodology](https://enrichmentapiguide.com/methodology): what the numbers mean, what they cannot show, which vendor pages could not be read. - [Evidence](https://enrichmentapiguide.com/evidence): receipts, fixture and runner script. - [About](https://enrichmentapiguide.com/about): authors and the relationship to Treg. - [Corrections](https://enrichmentapiguide.com/corrections): changes to published facts.
